Medical Assistant (MA)

Clinical Responsibilities
- Rooming patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Taking medical histories
- Proper charting/documentation of patients
- Assisting the physician during exams
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician.
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Drawing blood, Start I.V drip.
- Taking electrocardiograms (EKG)
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
- Taking X-ray (training available)
- Inventory Medical Supplies (each shift)

- Transmittal of medical Lab and X-Ray readings as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities
- Taking patient histories
- Instructing and counseling patients
- Referring patients to appropriate community resources
- Obtaining patient management consults
- Performing physical examinations
- Recording information into the patient chart
- Performing or assisting in laboratory procedures
- Performing or assisting in patient screening procedures
- Performing diagnostic and therapeutic studies
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological studies
- Ordering medications and other therapies
- Conduct both telemedicine visits and virtual visits
Requirements:
- Graduate of an NCCPA approved Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practioner Program
- NCCPA Certification
- Active license to practice as in the State of Michigan
- Active DEA Certification – Schedule II-V
- FMCSA/DOT – Certification desired
- Experience 2 years minimum in Emergency Medicine or Urgent – Care preferred
- Suboxone waiver +$5
Skills:
- Interpretation of 12 lead EKG, Digital X-ray, Lab study/results.
- Perform procedures including laceration repair, I&D, Finger/Toenail removal, reductions of common dislocation and/or fractures, Initiate IV fluids, CPR, AED, minor foreign body removal, including superficial cornea foreign body etc – common to Urgent Care.
- Ability to recognize potentially life, limb or ocular emergency
- Effectively communicate with patients, staff, community and physicians.
- Coordinate care with appropriate providers for referrals, transfers, Primary care providers and counseling.
- Compliance with medical documentation and submission of ICD/Procedure codes
